Saturday Night at the Hop We’re so glad you’ll be joining us ‘At the Hop’ on Saturday night at the Omni hotel!! Our celebration of the ‘50s won’t be complete, however, unless we ALL do a little rockin’ and rollin’!! Silk’n Sounds has a plan to get everyone on the dance floor!
Six hit songs from the rock and roll era will be performed during the after dinner show. Who will perform these ‘50s classics? YOU WILL!
We invite each of you to help us recreate the era of our organization’s birth by joining in the performance of at least one of the following six songs: |
Only You (sung by The Platters, 1955) Rock Around the Clock (sung by Bill Haley and the Comets, 1956) Que Sera, Sera (sung by Doris Day, 1956) All Shook Up (sung by the King, Elvis Presley, 1957) Who’s Sorry Now? (sung by Connie Francis, 1958) Put Your Head on my Shoulder (sung by Paul Anka, 1959) |
To help you participate, we are providing the lyrics of each song, as well as a link to an audio or video recording of the song to help you learn it. Just click on a song from the above list to find its lyrics and a recording by the original artist. Decide which song you like, run through it a few times, print out the lyrics and bring them along to the hop. |
Maybe you’ll be a pencil-skirted Doris Day, a poodle-skirted Connie Francis, a spit-curled Bill Haley, a leather-jacketed Elvis, a suave Platter, or a clean-cut Paul Anka. |
But don’t worry – costumes are optional. And of course you can sing with any group with or without a costume! You may want to join together ahead of time with friends in your chorus or in another chorus to co-ordinate your song choice and your wardrobe, or you might just wing it and see who you end up singing with once your song title is announced! |
The name of the game is Fun! Fun! Fun! so be ready to rock and roll on Saturday night!
